In the upcoming future, global energy systems will experience major modifications and the sustainability of the same will corroborate to be of the high significance for the environment and society. Centre is at cutting edge in north-western India when it comes to research infrastructure and academics in the area of Renewable Energy.

Study programs and its structure

PG

The M.Tech. is two-year program of four semesters and was started since 2012-13. The program is being offered as per the mandate of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy-Government of India, New Delhi (https://mnre.gov.in/) for capacity building in the area of Renewable Energy. Successful completion of this course would prepare the students to join prestigious academic institutions/universities and industries in relevant areas. Program covers main aspects of renewable energy systems. First and second semesters takes a closer look at core courses and few elective along with hands-on application-oriented experiments as well as simulation. Third and fourth semesters are for seminar and dissertation work. During the course of study, students will gain extensive knowledge and expertise in the area of sustainable renewable energy technologies.
The aim of the program is to provide students with technological knowledge, know-how and also ensuring that they gain an understanding of the regulatory framework relevant to the application of renewable energy technologies while performing development and implementation tasks in their subsequent professional careers.


Ph.D.

Energy is not just vital for all life forms, but also for the comfort of the modern-day world. Centre performs research in all areas of the renewable energy with a special focus on sustainable energy systems and energy efficient buildings. Energy efficiency, passive heating and cooling, sustainable buildings, solar PV, wind and bioenergy are some of the thrust technological areas we are specialized in. Our research spans and is build-on strong competences from energy efficient buildings to renewable energy technologies.
The Ph.D. program is poised to promote typically the cross-disciplinary research in the area of renewable energy and environment through hands-on training and live-projects/ experiments involving sophisticated equipments and techniques in the laboratories. Research is organized in strategic program and carried out in co-operation with national and international research institutes as well as with the industry and users of the renewable energy technology. Site visits, participation in-ongoing projects, simulations, interaction with industry and policy makers at state and national, international level with leading Institutions are well addressed during the course.

Admissions

Admission to the M.Tech. Renewable Energy of MNIT Jaipur is held through CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan.). CCMT is an online admission process for all National Institutes of Technologies (NITs) and several other Centrally funded institutes based on Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination.

Program Educational Objectives

PEO1 To provide skilled personnel with integrated learning of sustainable development, energy conservation, design, modeling, and performance analysis to academia and industry in energy and environment.
PEO2 Possess technical competence in the fields of Renewable Energy & allied disciplines and will successfully execute engineering solutions that are technically sound and environmentally friendly.
PEO3 To provide an academic ambiance that allows students to develop good scientific and technical skills to provide sustainable and cost-efficient innovative solutions to society.
PEO4 To inculcate in students professional and ethical attitude, teamwork skills, multidisciplinary approach, and an ability to engage in independent and life-long learning.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (PO)

A student who has met the objectives of the course will possess:
PO1 An ability to independently carry out research /investigation and development work to solve practical problems
PO2 An ability to communicate, write and present a substantial technical report/document effectively
PO3 An ability to demonstrate a degree of mastery over renewable energy and allied systems, at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate Bachelor's program
PO4 An ability to design, commission and operate renewable energy and allied systems
PO5 An ability to improve renewable energy systems, and assess their impact on overall sustainable development
