After serving as a Lecturer in Economics for 5 years at the Prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce ( SRCC ), Delhi University, Dr Chauhan joined the Indian Police Service in July 1977.As a member of the Indian Police Service, he served in various capacities on field and staff positions of Rajasthan Police for 34 years and retired as Director General of Police (Training), Rajasthan on March 31, 2011. He was awarded Indian Police Medal by the President of India and a 12 Bore Gun by the Governor of Rajasthan for rendering meritorious and gallant police services. Post superannuation from the Indian Police Service on 31 st March 2011; he has worked as an advisor in interviews for Civil Services Examinations conducted by the UPSC and RPSC. He also visit Business Schools/ Management Institutes for interacting with management students and Civil Services Training Academies/Institutes for interacting with young Civil Servants attending various training courses.
