Report on Dandiya Night-2019 19/10/2019 To 19/10/2019

Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) celebrated the season of Dandiya Raas with pomp and show on 19th October 2019 (Saturday). Creative arts and Cultural Society, MNIT Jaipur organized Dandiya night, 'Jashn-e-Dandiya' that marks the celebration of Navratri and Diwali. This event is a symbol of unity among the youth of the institute. Central Lawn was ornamented with colours and traditional ambience, boosted by a powerful sound system. Prof Tarush Chandra, Dean (SW) and Amit Singh, Co-ordinator, CACS, were there to inaugurate the event and to welcome our guests and friends from NIT Surathkal. The Director was welcomed on the stage to perform the Lamp lighting ceremony. He spoke a few words on 'Dandiya Raas' and the importance of the festival. MNIT's own dance group, Level X, performed a mind blowing piece on the theme of the event, adding to the already built-up excitement.
The fun and frolic event of Dandiya night commenced in the presence of around 500 people at around 7:00pm. As the evening progressed, more students filled into the Central Lawn to join the celebration with the total attendance around 1000 students.
The delightful sight of energetic light-footed young boys and girls swirling in graceful rhythmic Garba and enthusiastically playing Dandiya evoked admiration among all present there. A trendsetting photo booth made in the lawn hosted mind blowing backgrounds to pose for photos and selfies. There was also a unique giveaway challenge in collaboration with Redbull.
The mind was given a tough choice with a perfect blend of Bollywood and traditional Garba music on one side, and mouth watering food on the other. Traditional Garba music, Dandiya numbers along with some peppy Bollywood numbers kept everyone glued to the dance floor all throughout the evening.
There was an array of Food stalls set up at the entrance of Central Lawn. An ethnic outfit vendor was also hired prior to the event who visited the campus regularly to hire out traditional Garba outfit to students. A Dandiya seller was also present during as well as prior to the event.
The evening ended with a prize distribution ceremony wherein the Best Traditionally Dressed Dancer and the Best Dancer from students were felicitated and the event was concluded with announcing the 'Dandiya Tittles' and awarding prizes to the winners of 'Make A Mad', 'Spotlight Move' and 'Jashn-e-Shayari'.
Bright swirls of colours engulfed the atmosphere, heavy with impatience, mirth and energy. The satisfied smiles were evident on each face, and the night surely left people in awe of the sheer hard work put behind the decoration and the management as a whole.
