Report on Dandiya Night 01/11/2018 To 01/11/2018

Among the several forms of Raas, the most popular one is the Dandiya Raas, performed during the holy season of Navaratri. It is known for setting the festive mood in people. Dandiya Raas is the most featured and the most popular dance of Navratri evenings in Gujarat. In fact, it is performed in many other states.
Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) celebrated the season of Dandiya Raas with pomp and show on 1st Nobember 2018(Thursday). Creative arts and Cultural Society, MNIT Jaipur organized Dandiya night, 'Raas and Roll' that marks the celebration of Navratri and Diwali. This event is a symbol of unity among the youth of the institute. Central Lawn was ornamented with colours and traditional ambience, boosted by a powerful sound system. The Director was welcomed on the stage to perform the Lamp lighting ceremony. He was accompanied by Prof.Tarush Chandra, Dean Student Welfare (DSW). He spoke a few words on "Dandiya Raas" and the importance of the festival. Rhythmus, (one of the dance groups of MNIT) performed a mind blowing piece on the theme of the event, adding to the already built-up excitement.
The fun and frolic event of Dandiya night commenced in the presence of around 500 people at around 6:00pm. As the evening progressed, more students filed into central lawn to join the celebration with the total attendance being around 1000 students.
The delightful sight of energetic light-footed young boys and girls swirling in graceful rhythmic Garba and enthusiastically playing Dandiya evoked admiration among all present there. The Photo booth made in the lawn hosted mind blowing backgrounds to pise for photos and selfies.
Traditional Garba music, Dandiya numbers along with some peppy Bollywood songs kept everyone glued to the dance floor all throughout the evening till the very end of the event.
There was an array of Food stalls set up by the students at the entrance of central lawn. An ethnic outfit vendor was also hired prior to the event who visited the campus regularly to hire out traditional Dandiya/Garba outfit to students. A Dandiya seller was also present during as well as prior to the event.
The evening ended with a prize distribution ceremony wherein the Best Traditionally dressed Dancer and the Best Dancer from students were felicitated and The event was concluded with announcing the 'Dandiya Tittles' and awarding prizes to the winners of the same. The students enjoyed the event thoroughly and the event was a grand success.
