SPIC MACAY event of PURULIYA CHHAU dance TARAPAD RAJJAK & GROUP 25/09/2015 To 25/09/2015

SPIC MACAY society organised performance of PURULIYA CHHAU dance by artists TARAPAD RAJJAK & GROUP on 25th September 2015.
This dance belongs to Bengal tradition in which artists presents many ancient stories of India like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Shivpuran, Mahishasur Vaddha etc. Chhau dance is a genre of Indian tribal martial dance which is popular in the Indian states of Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal. It originated as a martial art and contains vigorous movements and leaps. Some Chhau dances use large stylish masks. Depiction of birds and animals is a distinctive feature.
The program was a huge success with audience around 150, not only MNIT people witnessed, there were also viewers from outside MNIT.
