A self-financed short-term course on 'LaTeX: A Scientific Writing Tool' was successfully organized by the Department of Mathematics, Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur during the period May 23-27, 2016. The main objective of the course was to expose the participants to use of LaTeX in academic & technical writing and making them able to prepare structured documents containing a lot of mathematical equations, tables and graphics.
During the inaugural session, LaTeX software was introduced to the participants while highlighting the need of such a course in the career development of researchers and teachers. Participants from following various geographies and disciplines attended the STC:

The distinguished faculty delivered lectures and their juniors conducted laboratory exercises on different forms of uses of LaTeX in technical and scientific writing. The valedictory function and ceremony for award of certificates was chaired by the Head of Department, Department of Mathematics, MNIT Jaipur. In the end, participants also provided their critical and encouraging feedback, which will be very useful in improving the courses in future. The coordinators are thankful to all those who conducted lab exercises which was highly appreciated by the participants.
