Tamariya Village Report(13 Aug 2017)



Introduction

A plantation and sanitation awareness drive was organized by Malaviya National Institute of Technology,Jaipur at village Tamaria, District Jaipur. The visit was organized by UBA team (MNIT) headed by Dr. Namita Mittal (Institute coordinator, UBA) and by Dr. Subba Ramaiah V. (Faculty coordinator, Village Tamaria, UBA). Nearly 35 enthusiastic student volunteers participated in the visit.


Highlights:

1) In starting the plantation was done at the primary school (Tamaria village),inside the village and nearby areas of temple.


2) Meeting was held between faculties and Gram Pradhan.


3) Household survey was done by student volunteers to know the capability and knowledge of villagers about government policies.


4) At last the "Swacch Bharat Abhiyan" awareness drive was held on door to door format.


5) People were strictly advised to use toilets and stop open defecation.

Open Defection Free Activity

1) During the camp a Household survey regarding the problems faced by villagers was done by the student volunteers who visited all the houses in the village and helped the residents to fill up the given questionnaire.


2) During sanitation awareness drive people were advised to make the toilets in their home and the advantages of it were also told.


Conclusion:-

i) Lot of villagers resort to open defecation. Some have toilets in their home.


ii) Some of villagers were using their toilets as stores.


iii) Lot of villagers don't know about various government policies.


iv) Villages do not have proper drainage.


v) People were just looking at students doing plantation. Very few of them came to help the volunteers. It reflects that the mind-set of villagers should be changed.


vi) The primary school was not well fenced hence the trees planted there were prone to be eaten by stray cattle.
