Applications are invited for the temporary post of one Project Faculty (Salary: Rs.40,000/ per month Consolidated, Project Duration: till March 31, 2013) in the Department of Computer Engineering, MNIT under Project Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) funded by Ministry of Communication and Information technology, Govt. of India .

Essential and Desirable minimum Qualifications for this project post
Minimum Qualifications: First Class M.Tech/ME in CSE/Computer Engg./ Information Technology with B.Tech/BE in CSE/Computer Engg./Information Technology handling hardware and software of different kind in the area of Information Security.
Desirable:Regular PhD (CSE/Computer Engg.). The candidates will be required to handle lab work of latest OS and networked environment and work in information security research and teaching. The candidate shall be exposed for handling the labs and will be encouraged to contribute in research work related with the project.

rounds of TIE International Business Plan Competition (TIBPC).

TIE’s International BPC provides students and their teams a chance to
compete in the world’s largest and most successful Business Plan
Competition with prizes worth $ 1 million.
MNIT and TIE Rajasthan will host the regional round – Level 1
TIE Brussles and TIE Delhi will host the regional finals – Level 2
Winners get an all expense paid trip to Rice University, Texas, USA where
the finals of TIBPC will be held.

A zonal orientation program to inform all interested candidates about `TIE
BPC and what all they stand to gain just by participating in this huge

Message of the Director

Dear Alumni,

This year the institute is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year from 1^st of Sept. 2012 to 31^st August 2013, and the same was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Kapil Sibal, Minister of Human Resource Development and Communication and IT, Government of India. The Hon’ble Minister flagged off the first function on 1^st Sept. 2012, which was also attended by Past Chairmen, Principals and Directors, Students, Alumni, Distinguished faculty of past and those presently serving in the institute. The contribution made by founders of the institution, making it an Institution of Excellence in Technical Education was highlight of the function.

During the year long celebration with more than 700 planned exciting events both Academic, Co-curricular and Extra-curricular is going to be a challenge. Such large number of events are going to transform this institution into a vibrant and dynamic entity. It is in this context that I appeal to my Alumni to come forward, participate and support some of these activities and add value to these events mostly managed by various students groups of the institute.

Since my joining this institute as Director of Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur, almost a year and half back, I have been trying to establish a communication link between the institute and its Alumni. I think I have been partially successful in this endeavour. However there is a large number of Alumni who are yet to be connected. To spread the essence of institute it requires whole hearted support of the Alumni, which can be done only if its alumni are networked together. All Great institution through-out the world are supported, nurtured, patronized and marketed by its Alumni. Let us come forward and create a data-bank of all alumni. Some of my Golden Jubilee team members are trying their level best and are trying to create a portal for registration so that my vision of getting connected to each pass out student of this institute becomes a reality. Those who read this message, I request to them, to kindly share the information with their colleagues/batch mates, so that they too get registered with their alma-meta.

I look forward to your active participation in the overall development of the institution and help me in shaping it into one of the best global institutions. Kindly also keep on looking at various announcements on the institute website and choose the programme where you can participate and support our action plan.

A gold medal with certificate has been instituted by some of MNIT alumni (Prof Avinash Kumar Agarwal, IITK and team, 1994 Mechanical batch) in memory of Late Prof S K Gupta. Late Prof S. K. Gupta was a faculty with the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Under this award a gold medal is to be awarded to one of the passed out student of Mechanical Engineering every year on the basis of performance in academic, curricular and extra-curricular activities. Ram and Shanti Bhargava Memorial Award was instituted by Prof. V. K. Bhargava in 1995. JRF Position in State DST sponsored project, Chemistry Department, MNIT

Applications are invited on a plain paper for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Chemistry, MNIT Jaipur for a research project entitled “Synthesis of Heterobioconjugates as possible Drug Candidates Using Click Chemistry Approach” funded by Department of Science and Technology, Rajasthan (State DST). The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Educational Qualifications: Candidates those who have completed their M.Sc. in Chemistry/Medicinal/ Pharmaceutical with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.75 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the institute where letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks where marks awarded. Candidates who have passed NET/SLET or have a valid GATE score will be preferred.

Duration of the Project: Three years (as per the duration of the project) with an initial appointment for one year, and subsequently renewable for two more years after performance evaluation

Fellowship: Rs 7200/- p.m. for 1^st two years and Rs. 8000/- p.m. for the third year.

Renewal of Top Class SC/ST Scholarship

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India have been implementing the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of “Top class education for SC/ST students”. The students who had been admitted during the academic years 2008-9 , 2009-10, 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and who were granted Top class SC/ST Scholarship are advised to submit their application for renewal of the above scholarship for the years 2010-2011, 2011-12 and 2012-2013, if due. The application should be given in the prescribed format (may be obtained from the office of the scholarship cell of DSW Office) latest by 3/09/2012 positively. The documents to be attached with the application are progress report, income certificate, receipts for boarding & lodging charges etc. for concerned years.

If, application is not submitted by above date, it will be treated /Presumed that the student is not interested for above noted top class scholarship during the academic year i.e. 2012-2013and other year.

Fresh Proposals for Top Class SC/ST Scholarship

The Ministry of Social Justice &Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India have been implementing the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of “Top class education for SC/ST students”. It is a Great Honour and Privilege for MNIT to host Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (Former President of India) on December 31, 2011. He will be visiting MNIT Jaipur and shall be interacting with MNIT students on December 31, 2011.

Rights of admission for this session shall be reserved and through prior registration for MNIT students only. Please note:

Students can register online through http://intranet.mnit.ac.in by 5:00pm December 27, 2011(Please note that this site is visible only from MNIT intranet). The students who are willing to participate in the interactive session will have to be authenticated with LDAP.
The registration shall be on First Come First Served basis and the registration shall be done only for certain numbers as per the rated safe seating arrangement at Central Lawns.
Every student can submit a question for interaction with the former President of India.
Every registration will happen only after the student shall agree to code of conduct.
Every registered student who will come shall be allowed to enter the central lawns only if he has a valid (i) MNIT student ID and (ii) Print out of the registration slip.
Not all the questions shall be selected for submission. Questions shall be screened by the organisers.
Registered students should not carry any electronic gadgets such as cameras, mobile, laptops etc. at the venue.
All the registered students shall come to the venue in proper formal dress.

Course on “Power System Restructuring and Electricity Markets”

SUMMARY

A short term course was organized in the Department of Electrical Engineering from 19^th to 23^rd December, 2011. The course was entitled “Power System Restructuring and Electricity Markets”.

The inaugural ceremony of the course was addressed by the Chief Guest, Sh. Shailendra Agarwal, CMD, RVPNL, and the Guest of Honour, Prof. S.L. Surana, Director (Acad.) SKIT Jaipur. The speakers lauded the course content and stressed the need to organize more such programmes for the industry personnel and the academia.

The STC was highly successful, in terms of number of participants and quality of lectures delivered. A total of 72 participants registered for the course. These included participants from POSOCO (A subsidiary of PGCIL), Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited, and from IIT /Government Engineering Colleges /Self funded academic institutions situated in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat and Rajasthan, along with a large number of institutional participants.

The course was addressed by various speakers from IITs, NITs and industry. These included Prof. S.N. Singh, IIT Kanpur, Prof. N.P. Padhy, IIT Roorkee, Dr. R.C. Bansal, The University of Queensland, Australia, Dr. Ashwini Kumar, NIT Kurukshetra, Dr. A.R. Abhyankar, IIT Delhi, Dr. Naran Pindoriya, IIT Gandhinagar, and Mr Lakshminarayana, Power Exchange India Limited, Mumbai.

The course content was a reflection of a variety of industry relevant issues. Initially, a general introduction to the issue of power sector deregulation was provided, followed by a reflection of state of art in Indian and world power scenario. Issues of contextual relevance like Smart Grids and Carbon Trading were also discussed. This was followed by a detailed discussion on short term power market in India and different restructuring models adopted worldwide. The speakers discussed in depth on trading and bidding strategies, risk management, market power, ancillary services, available transfer capability, congestion management, renewable energy certificates, load and price forecasting, and transmission and distribution pricing. The professionals from the industry provided an excellent view of the operation of power exchanges and pools, trading mechanism, financial derivatives and different products being traded in the exchange.

The course was well received and the participants were appreciative of the subject matter delivered and its relevance to the present day electricity markets.

New Computer Center and Library

An inauguration ceremony has been held on October 20, 2011 for initiating the construction work of building two additional floors atop the existing Design and Computer Center buildings in the Institute. The proposed floors are expected to be functional by December 2012 and shall house ‘New Computer Center’ and ’Digital Library’ of the Institute.

One Mega Hostel for abut 1000 rooms for boys
Two blocks of Girls Hostel

One block of 8 studio flats provide limited facility for married students accommodation

Among all the hostels 07 messes are currently running through mess council. The hostels are managed by a team of wardens, mess assistants and care takers.

The Department of Structural Engineering (now Civil Engineering), MNIT Jaipur successfully organized the 4th International Conference on Structural Stability and Dynamics (ICSSD-2012) , during 4-6 January 2012, in collaboration with Department of Mechanical Engineering, Texas A&M University, Texas (USA).

Event Highlights

The Conference was inaugurated by Ms. Vibha Puri Das, Secretary, Ministry of Human Resources Development, and Govt. Of India, with Prof. Pardipta Banerji, as Guest of Honour, Prof. I. K. Bhat (Director MNIT), Patron, ICSSD and Prof. J. N. Reddy, Chairman, ICSSD and Dr. M. K. Shrimali, Co-Chair, ICSSD .
Prof. J. N. Reddy, Chairman, ICSSD 2012, and Distinguished Professor, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. Prof. P. K. Banerji, Guest of Honour, ICSSD 2012 and Director, IIT Roorkee, Prof. Y. B. Yang, Advisor, ICSSD 2012, and President, YunTech University, Taiwan.
Plenary speakers of the Confetrwence were: Prof. C. M. Wang, National University of Singapore (NUS), Prof. S. Kitipornchai, City University of Hongkong, Prof. Karan S. Surana, The University of Kansas (USA), Prof. Tarun Kant and Prof. R. S. Jangid, of IIT Bombay, Prof. J. S. Rao and Prof. T. K. Datta of IIT Delhi, Prof, C. V. R. Murty of IIT Madras, Prof. N. S. Vyas of IIT Kanpur.
In all 134 papers were presented, besides ten Plenary Lectures and six Keynote lectures, the delegates attended from fourteen different countries; and IITs, NITs and other premier institutions. The papers covered a broad range of topics that include, structural dynamics, structural stability, computational and experimental methods, inverse problems, smart materials and structures, earthquake engineering, and nano & bio mechanics. Selected papers from those presented at the conference will be invited to be peer-reviewed for publication in International Journal of Structural Stability & Dynamics, Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, and International Journal of Computational Methods in Engineering Science and Mechanics.PS: Some of the photographs of the conference are attached.

NOTICE

Subject: Regarding authenticated access and acceptable user policy for all the authorized users of MNIT Internet and CWN resources.

This is as per discussions and approval of Head Central Computer Center, MNIT Jaipur that as per the mandatory requirement MNIT is switching to authenticated user access policy. In the authenticated system, all the authorised users shall be required to obtain an LDAP password necessary for accessing Internet through MNIT Internet Gateway.

For this all authenticated users (students, specially) of MNIT Jaipur shall be distributed with the initial LDAP password on production and verification of Institute ID Card. For this all students are requested to report to CCL-II in Design Center along with their Institute ID, they shall be issued initial passwords on showing, the schedule for the same shall be as follows:

1. Students all Year all branches: CCL-2 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (20, 21 and 22 April 2011 from 9 am to 9 pm) as per the schedule available on Institute website .

2. All the faculty and staff members shall be provided separately with their account details through their departmental offices.

The initial planned switch over to authenticated system shall take place between, 12:00 noon till 8:00 pm on April 23, 2011 to check the load and efficiency of the system.
The help desk number shall be 2713481/2713483 from 9:00am-5:00pm on April 23, 2011.

All the authorised users of MNIT shall be able to:
Change their initial passwords on their first login while they come to CCL 2 for verification.. All the users should provide correct secondary email id, which will be required for regeneration of their lost passwords.

Please remember the LDAP passwords soon shall be used for Internet access through proxy and also Single Sign On at central facilities.

All the users should not share their passwords.
